Beach courts installed around England
Do you play beach volleyball on holiday? Well, now you can play throughout the summer. 20 beach volleyball courts have been distributed to numerous locations around England and will be available for the general public to use, free of charge!
The beach courts have been funded by Volleyball England as part of the Go Spike campaign, aimed at getting more people playing volleyball regularly. The courts will be up throughout the summer available for anyone on the beach to have a go at and experience this number one beach sport!
Stuart Johnson, Head of Development at Volleyball England commented: “This is a big step forwards for beach volleyball in England; we are providing people with opportunities to play volleyball on the beach for free at a time in the day that suits them.
"A large amount of the population in England will experience Beach Volleyball for the first time through watching the action from Horse Guards Parade, during the London 2012 Olympic Games this summer. This is part of our legacy from the games for anyone who has been inspired to give it a go and wants to experience what a fun and sociable sport it can be!”
The courts are being installed at the following locations:
• Sherwood Forest Centre Parcs (Nottingham)
• Skegness (Lincolnshire)
• Weston-Super-Mare (Somerset)
• Weymouth (Dorset)
• Clacton-On-Sea (Essex)
• Bridlington (Yorkshire)
• Perranporth (Cornwall)
• Polzeath (Cornwall)
• Redcar (Redcar & Cleveland)
There are a number of other beach volleyball facilities around the country that are available to use. To find out where your nearest beach facilities enter your postcode into the session finder and look for the yellow markers!
